Rev. Dr. D. A. Morgan
Our Founding Pastor
Under
the leadership of founding pastor Dr. D. A. Morgan, the Metropolitan Baptist
Church, Hollywood, Florida, started as Home Fellowship in August 1976. It achieved Chapel Status
on October 10, 1976, and was constituted into a church on April 24, 1977.
Our continued growth meant our sanctuary on 8th Ave. Miami, Florida, no
longer served the needs of our congregation. We purchased 9.025 acres
of land with the intention of building a new facility. During this time
we worshipped mainly at McAuthur High School, Hollywood, Florida. We were
then blessed with the opportunity of purchasing the building in which
we now worship. Our sanctuary is located at 7200 Davie Rd Extension Hollywood,
Florida and we have been there since May 5th 2002.
Our current pastor is Rev. Hervin Green, he has a deep love for God and for people. He is anexperienced Pastor with 32 years of active ministry in Jamaica, West Indies, Grenada, West Indies, Toronto, Canada, and Washington DC. He taught Religious Education and served as Guidance Counselor in the Secondary School system in Jamaica.
Our Associate Pastor is Rev. Clinton Chisholm, he is an accomplished teacher, preacher, apologist and author whom God
is using to address the tough questions that challenge the enquiring minds
of today's generation.
Rev.
Tommy Carrington currently serves as the
Youth Director at Metropolitan Baptist Church. He was previously a Youth
Evangelist with Miami Youth for Christ for 12 years, and the Urban Director
for Reach Out Youth Solutions for 5 years.

Affiliation: We serve under the auspices of the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, The Miami Baptist Association, the Florida Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention.
Objective: To be a ministering multicultural community of New Testament believers, functioning under the power of the Holy Spirit, in faithful obedience to the Scriptures, magnifying the Lord through worship, evangelism, fellowship and mission.
Message: We proclaim the death of Christ for our sins, His burial and triumphant resurrection, His high Priestly work on our behalf, the witness of His church in the world, and Christ's glorious return as King and Lord of Lords.
Membership: We enlist as members, those who have made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and have obeyed Him in New Testament Baptism.
Outreach: In obedience to the Great Commission we seek to reach the unchurched in our immediate and surrounding communities, to provide a "Home Away From Home" for those from other lands, and to fulfill our part of the global missions mandate.
Mission Statement: To bring people to Christ and into the fellowship of His Church, disciple them into Christ-like maturity, equip them to minister and fulfill Christ's mission in the world ... through the worship of God, the power of the Holy Spirit and submission to Scripture.
Missions: Metropolitan Baptist Church has given birth to Cosmopolitan Church of North Dade with Rev. Percy Ransom, a French speaking mission with Rev. Felix Jean-Hilaire and the Caribbean Baptist Church of South Broward with Rev. Dr. Wesley Green as pastor.
Our Fort Lauderdale mission with Rev. and Mrs. Lawrence Dalrymple as missionaries was transferred to the First Baptist Church of Plantation and later gained church status.
We contribute to Charity Mission in Jamaica, Youth for Christ International (YFCI), in addition to our regular contributions to the Cooperative Program, the Southern Baptist Convention, the State Mission Program, the Miami Baptist Association and the Lottie Moon and Annie Armstrong offering.
